MY NAME IS MOMMY announced at La Habra Depot theater

My name is mom, april wishes An all-girl show celebrating the elation of motherhood with humorous detours into the modern realities of raising young children, comes to The Phantom Projects Theater at La Habra Depot for its Orange County premiere March 4-6. .

Unapologetically feminist and powerfully tender, My Name Is Mommy investigates the traditions of a matriarchal family, exploring the bond between generations through the lens of Wish as mother and daughter. The show follows her journey as she searches for the pieces of self she left behind when she stepped into her role as a mother – buried under mountains of toys and traditions. In this dynamic and often hilarious play, April Wish penned a love letter to her daughter, Clementine, and the little girl she was.

Returning to the stage after taking time off to raise her children, April Wish has spent her life creating. From hundreds of stage performances to producing nearly a dozen feature films, she is a pioneer in live interactive narrative storytelling.

Made and developed by jessica Lynn JohnsonMy Name Is Mommy was on a national tour before covid and traveled to San Diego, Wisconsin and Hawaii, and played to sold out audiences in Los Angeles.

The show won a Producer’s Encore Award at the Hollywood Fringe Festival, the Star Award at the Maui Fringe Festival, and was invited to perform at the Binge Fringe Festival at the Santa Monica Playhouse, Studio Collaboration at the Long Beach Playhouse, and was selected for the 2020 Los Angeles Women’s Theater Festival. Joy Bennet of The Jewish Journal said, “‘I’ve never seen a better, more emotionally searing portrayal of motherhood and the impossible task it entails.”

Performances of My Name Is Mommy will take place Friday, March 4 at 8:00 p.m.; Sat. March 5 at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m.; and Sun. March 6 at 2 p.m. Tickets range from $15 to $30. The operating time is 75 minutes.
